April 22, 2019

  • The Environmental Club is collecting t-shirts at the top of the stairs for t-shirt bags in celebration of Earth Day!
  • There will be NO Boys Soccer Practice TODAY.
  • Awesomeness from State FFA!!:
  • Tate placed 1st in Ag. Mechanics winning a $10,000 UTI scholarship, 1st in Prepared speaking, and 2nd in Extemporaneous Speaking.
  • Cody placed 2nd in Fisheries and 2nd in Marine Tech Overall as an individual
  • Lindy took 4th in both prepared public speaking and employability skills. She was also presented a leadership award.
  • Iron Mountain shined in the Environmental and Natural Resource competition. Tate placed 1st in while Teak took 2nd and Akilena third. The ENR team consisting of Tate, Lindy, Akilena, and Lincoln won first place and the opportunity to advance to nationals in Indianapolis, Indiana in the fall.
  • Congratulations to Akilena Veach and Lindy Guernsey for taking 2nd place out of 400+ entries in this year’s Caring for the Kenai competition! In addition to the recognition and a world of new opportunities, the dynamic duo gets to split $1,100 that they can spend on discounted marshmallow peeps or whatever they want.  But wait, there’s more!  Since Lindy and Akilena did so well and Mr. Cureton’s Biology class was forced to submit entries, Seward High School science department just earn thousands of dollars for lab supplies, field trips, and more.  Who’s ready for Marine Biology next year?
