Seward High School’s Daily Announcements:

May 21, 2018

  • This is the Report from the Region III Track and Field Championships: These athletes have punched their ticket to the State Championships!

Zen Petrosius finished 9th in the 1600 and 5th in the 3200.

Emma Moore ran to 7th place finish in the 1600 and a 6th place finish in the 3200.  She also Triple Jumped to 5th place

Ruby Lindquist won the Championship in the 800, the 1600, and the 3200, and was voted in as the Region III Athlete of the Year.

Coral Petrosius threw the discus almost 100 feet, and finished in 3rd.

Robert Chappell threw the shot put almost 36 feet which placed him in 6th.

Sam Paperman dropped a new PR on the track in the 3200.

Kalista Rodriguez was the Iron Woman of the day on Friday, racing the 200, the 400, and the 800.

Trey Ingalls and Trapper Allen hurdled to 3rd and 4th in the 100 High Hurdles, and then notched 2nd and 4th in the 300 hurdles.

The Hurdling Women of Seward placed Anevay Amborsiani, Malia Hewitt, Elissa Turner and Ally Chryss in the finals and Ally ran to the Region Championship with Elissa Finishing as the Region Runner-Up.

Elissa Turner then won the Region Championship in the 300 hurdles, eclipsing Nikiski’s Bethany Carsten’s PR bid to unseat her.

Beau Frieberg, Neil Lindquist and Chris Kingsland finished 5th, 6th and 8th in the 200.

Seward will be taking two 4X200 Relays to State Championships this weekend and the Women’s 4X800 will go as well.

The top three 4X400 Men’s teams in the State right now are only separated by a margin of 1.5 seconds: Homer, Sitka and Seward.   Beau Frieberg, Neil Lindquist, Chris Kingsland and Zen Petrosius will be bringing home the groceries on Saturday in the pinnacle race of the day.  If you have never had the opportunity to see Seward Athletes at an Alaska State Championship, sparks are going to fly, and the action on the Palmer Track is going to require fire extinguishers.
